So for class this week our assignment was to do fantasy makeup, which pretty much means, do anything! I chose to be a faery, but couldn't find any looks online that I liked, so I decided to just come up with my own look! I really love the pictures of forest faeries I found online, and came up with this look!

For my ears I used nose wax to form the pointy-faery like ears, and I "erased" my eyebrows with the glue-stick method. Here are a few pictures I used for inspiration:

For this Halloween my sister really wants to be a flapper, and has been looking at photos, seeing what she likes best. We were both really inspired by quite a few pictures and by actress Clara Bow. I gave her the smokey eye we all know from that era, the thin minimalist eyebrows, and small puckered lips. We unfortunately didn't have a wig this time, but I tried my best with the hair ;) Pictures will be after the break!

So first up on my Halloween makeup is Batgirl, which I was inspired to do from a MAC Halloween face chart (after the break). Most of the looks I will be doing will be from MAC face charts :) I really liked the way it looked with 40s styled-hair, it reminded me of Silk Spectre from Watchmen. Stage Makeup Class

So far I love my makeup class at my local college. When I first started I was wondering if this really was the class for me, and now I definitely think it's so much fun. Our first project was corrective makeup, just learning how to contour for the stage, which is heavily applied, highlighting your face, and just making you look beautiful and in character.

Our next project is animal makeup and we will be presenting in about 2 weeks. Right now I'm just practicing, and the animal I chose is a cheetah.

I was inspired to do this from Petrilude's video tutorial on Youtube. His is a leopard, but they are very similar in shape and with the spots. Here's the link below:

Long Time No See...

So it's been quite some time since I've written here. I have many excuses why, mainly I just took a break and relaxed :) Summer has been great so far, just lots of relaxing with my boyfriend and family and working basically 5 days a week 30 plus hours, overall a pretty good summer.

So fall is slowly approaching and I can't wait! I am so over summer, and can't wait to feel the cool breeze of fall, start wearing cute cardigans and pea coats. Summer has been great but my favorite seasons for fashion are definitely fall and spring. What I like about it is that you can still wear skirts or dresses, just with some nylons or a little cardigan to keep warm.

I am also going back to school this fall and I am really excited about my classes this term. I am going to be taking a stage makeup class, and a couple child development classes. I am definitely excited to start the makeup class. I've always loved makeup, but especially the theatrical and special effects makeup because I find it challenging and stimulating to do. So I will definitely be writing and posting pictures about that class, and possibly some garments I plan on making once I fix my sewing machine :)

Do vegetarians eat animal crackers?

There are SO many random questions while being vegetarian, like do you eat fish? chicken? NO! Those are the exact opposite of what a vegetarian is, if it does not grow in the ground, does not have body parts like us, have blood running through its veins, etc you get my main idea. Another one is, "Don't you crave meat still? You know it tastes good!" My answer is no I don't crave it, it actually smells gross to me now, but yes before I loved it, everyone who knows me knows I used to love my meat especially rare, but now I can't even imagine being ignorant as I was and still eat meat.

There are so many benefits to cutting out all animals from your diet, it's ridiculous that so many chose not to. Your life expectancy will greatly grow once you change to a meat-less diet, even if it's only for a couple of times a week. No one in my family is vegetarian, I'm a lone ranger, but thankfully they have slightly changed their diets and eat vegetarian meals at least twice a week with my now.

I remember the first week I became vegetarian I did somewhat still crave meat, since I do work at a fast food place with lots of meat all around, but now when I go into work the smells disgusts me, it's even worse in the mornings when it's the first thing I smell. It's gross, but I tolerate it for the money.

Anywhoo, a couple of times a week I will probably post a recipe of just a picture of a veggie meal I made in hopes to inspire you to a healthier, and happier lifestyle :)

Lately I have been more into doing D.I.Y projects, and have been browsing through a few of my favorite home decor website, like Threadbanger, Nest, and Apartment Therapy. I recently finished two small projects, a jewelry box, and a tray where I put all my necessities in on my desk.

The first project I did this week was my jewelry box. I went to Michaels one day looking for something fun to do, I was contemplating painting a picture, but we all knowing I am no artist, so I decided to look for unfinished wood pieces, and found this jewelry box and loved it!

The first thing I did was paint it a "vintage creme" acrylic paint, and when I painting about 3 or so coats I sprayed it with a high gloss finishing spray, and let it dry overnight.

Afterwards, I stopped by Joann's and was looking for a velvet, or velvety textured fabric, but found nothing to my liking. So I went to the cotton section and found this gorgeous fabric, another plus I only paid $1.99 for it :)

I cut out the appropriate measurements, and glued them down with tacky glue, and voila, I have my very own DIY jewelry box. This project cost $15-$20, and you can probably find even better bargains then I did, and it's fun!

The next very quick project I did was a tray to hold all of my little trinkets.

I pretty much did the same things as I did with the jewelry box, I finished them both in the same day :)

Lazy Beach Bum

So yesterday I spent the day at Huntington Beach, it was very relaxing, even though I got a sunburn :( I had the whole day off so I went there in the morning, then to my company picnic. It was a good day, and I'm heading back out to Huntington Beach again tomorrow for some more needed relaxation :)

So it was time for my sister to get a haircut, and she wanted something totally different than what she usually styles her hair as.

We both have been wanting Bettie Page bangs for as long as I could remember, and she finally decided it was time since she is now going into her senior year of high school.

She had fun modeling for me, she is a natural! Anyways all I really did with her hair was cut about and inch off and layered a bit. I curved her bangs a bit going downwards at the edges, and it think it makes it look more modern then the actual Bettie bangs, which are cut upward at the edges like this...

I also did her makeup, just very minimal and simple. I put an eyeshadow close to her skin color all over the lid, and put a brown matte shadow on her crease, and lined her eye with a winged gel liner. I put a little bit of contour and blush on, and a mauve pink lipstick on :)

She definitely can pull this vintage look off! Here's a couple goofy pictures of her at the end ;)

I've been loving these shoes Mcqueen has come out with for their Spring/Summer show. The yellow and black geometric stripes really remind me of Kill Bill, but I love it! The blue and red peep toe shoes are also very cute, and definitely stand out!

Grooming Your Eyebrows

I've been plucking my brows since I was about 13, so they have seen good and bad days. As a teenager it was always more aesthetic to myself and other young girls to over pluck, and make them as thin as possible.

Women, but especially young girls, tend to make the same the same mistake I made, by over plucking, and creating very sparse brows. Truth is you will regret plucking so much, because it very rarely grows back, and thicker brows give a more youthful appearance (that I am sure you will want as you grow older).

Lately I have been using Tweezerman tweezers to do the job, and they are the best I've used yet. They really get the small tiny hairs the regular tweezers just won't grab onto, and leave my brow clear of any stray hairs.

This is a pretty simple, and well-known, guideline on shaping your brows.

Yes To Cucumbers

So I've been using Burt's Bees for nearly all my skin products for a while, and I've been wanting to check out other brands. About a couple weeks ago I ran out of my moisturizer so I ran to CVS to buy some. They have three different type in the "Yes To..." brand. They have Yes to Carrots (which is for normal to dry skin), Yes to Cucumbers (for normal to sensitive skin), and Yes to Tomatoes (for Combination to Oily skin).

I have sensitive skin so I chose the Yes to Cucumbers type. I've been using it daily for like past couple of weeks and overall I think It's even better than the Burt's Bee's moisturizer, although I still have cons about it. I love that you only need a tiny amount when putting it on. I find that about less than a dime size of the lotion is enough for my face, and it is also very hydrating to the skin. The only problem I have with this is the scent, it's not that big of a deal it's just not my cup of tea!

It's made with about 99.6% natural ingredients, which I love, and it contains Organic Cucumbers, Aloe Vera, Dead Sea Minerals, and proteins and nutrients to hydrate and better your complexion. The price is affordable at $15 and is cheaper then the moisturizers I used to buy from Burt's Bee's. I recommend it and think it's a great product :)

Purple Haze

So today for some reason I felt inspired to play with my makeup and try to be creative. I was online and saw this photo and thought it was just so gorgeous with the navy, purple, and pink colors, so I came up with a look for it...and it's not your everyday wearable look ;)

I had a little fun taking the pictures, knowing how crazy I look, but hey I like doing makeup looks like this even if they aren't your typical "beautiful" makeup looks.

I plan on taking some stuido makeup classes this coming fall to learn techniques, and it just sounds so fun! Anyways, I may be doing more makeup looks in the future so stay tuned for them :)

Sex and the City Party Decor

So the other day I was talking to my sister about her 18th birthday coming up at the end of this year, and how she really wants to have a party. I didn't have an 18th birthday party, I'm not really the 'center of attention' type of girl, so I opt out on parties for myself. We started talking about themes, and she just saw Sex and the City 2, and thought that would be the perfect inspiration/theme for her party.

One thing you cannot go without for a good Sex and the City inspired party is Cosmos, but since this will be an 18th birthday party we'll have to go for virgin drinks.

I found this super cute cupcake stand on Etsy from user 'Affairaphernalia' that is perfect for a Sex and the City themed party. Check out her etsy store, she also has other very cute cupcake stands!

Heels as centerpieces would be simple, inexpensive (just grab the ones in your closet!) and perfect for this theme. You can do plenty of things with it, you can surround it by crystal beads for an extravagant look, or just leave it as is!

Of course for any glamorous party you must have a red carpet! :) To do this you can basically just buy some cheap red material from a craft store to make the red carpet and make your very own background for the perfect entrance for your guests! Just assign one of your friends the role of the paparazzi and take pictures of your guests as the roll in! Then post them online for all to see!

If you have a little extra spending money I would definitely suggest getting some party favors as a thank you to your guests! You can include goods like your favorite lipstick, nail polish, or a chain bracelet with a shoe charm. Be creative, buy whatever you love and your guests will love.

Lazy Wednesday

So today has been quite a lazy day so far. No plans for today just relaxing at home, a little homework, and work later in the evening.

I have two dogs Daisy (Labrador) and Ben(Dachshund mix). I got Daisy about a year ago from a manager at work, and loved her ever since I first saw her :) I rescued Benny from an animal rescue organization back in September, and has fit in quite well in my family, and with Daisy.

So after a day of doing nothing I sat with Ben and drank an iced coffee, but now I'm off to work. Can't wait it'll be fun! (sarcasm) ;)

So recently I found out that MAC will be featuring a new collection in theme of the Disney villains, and I was excited! You can tell that the colors will be deep, vibrant, and very animated. MAC has yet to announce which four villains will be the inspiration for the makeup collection, but what villains are you hoping make the cut?

Companies To Stray Away From

I am no vegan, but I am vegetarian, and I HATE animal testing, there is really no point for it. There are people willing to test out products, but the companies would rather not pay them for their work, and instead torture animals for useless testing.

Review: L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base

I have been using the Magic Perfecting Base for a few weeks now and I love it. I put it on after I put moisturizer on my face, and it leaves it feeling velvet-smooth and matte. The consistency of the formula is very creamy and almost like a whipped, light, texture. Overall it does what it says it will do, leaving my face matte and flawless, I definitely recommend this product.

Recently in the past few weeks I have become a vegetarian. I feel much healthier, and less tired and lazy as I used to be when I ate meat. At the same time I know I need to start taking multi-vitamins to help sustain my health. I have realized just how unhealthy I used to eat. Every week I would be eating red meat probably well over 5 times a week, and most of what I consumed was processed, and fatty fast foods just because of the ease of not having to make dinner.

Now that I have become a vegetarian I enjoy coming home making my meals with fresh veggies, tofu, and substitutes for meat. I enjoy searching online for new recipes I have never tired and testing them out with my family, and in turn of me becoming a vegetarian my family has stopped ridiculing me for my new lifestyle and they now enjoy my veggie creations, maybe more than the meat-based meals they eat, at least I hope ;).

Today I was looking through Barnes and Noble and stumbled upon this book. I have been wanting it for a while now, but never really took the time to look for it in the bookstore. I have yet to read it in its entirety, but I've skimmed through it and it gives great tips for covering brows, different makeup looks in step by step manner, and great everyday makeup techniques. I hope to study cosmetology soon so this was definitely a good buy for me!

Small MAC and NYX Haul

So this weekend I went shopping and stopped by The Cosmetic Company Store. I was a bit surprised that there was a good amount of MAC products, because many people say that there is usually a poor selection. I didn't feel like I wanted to buy much when I went in though, there weren't that many great colors, so I ended up just buying a few things.

I ended up buying 6 MAC products from CCS, and 2 NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils, and one NYX eyeliner from a random store in the Outlet.

I purchased a beauty powder from the Rose Romance collection in Blush of Youth. It is a very soft pink, and is great for a natural look. I usually don't wear greatly noticable blush, so this was a perfect match for me!

The next product I purchased was a mineral eyeshadow duo in Illusionary Burning Ambition. It is a gorgeous eyeshadow duo, I love it! I recommend applying it wet, because the light color takes a light gold color when wet, and the darker golden brown color that is beautiful. I haven't mixed the two colors together yet, but I have read reviews saying that it turns into a gorgeous khaki color when mixed.

I also got another eyeshadow in Knight. It is a slate-grey color, and looks great on top of a dark/black color base rather that just applying on just a primed eyelid. It has a pearl finish and applies smoothly.

I have been wanting to find a good powder to contour with, and I finally found one. It is MAC Sculpt and Shape Powder in the shade Lightsweep Shadester. The highlight color is a pale peach color, and the contour is a light brown shade. I purchased the lightest shade I could find at the CCS so that way I can build the color if I feel the need to, rather than buying a darker shade, and having to be careful not to apply too much. I like wearing this on a daily basis, especially when I wear minimal makeup, just to contour my face, and have a simple neutral eye.

The last item I purchased from CCS was a Mineralized Skinfinish in Medium/Natural and Shimmer. I was disappointed that they didn't have any Mineral Skinfinish Natrual, but I think this was a good buy. It comes with the face powder on one side, and on the other with a shimmery light pink color. I find if i mix both the face and the shimmer powder together it makes my face too shimmery, which I don't like, so I use the simmer as a highlight on my cheekbones, nose, and chin.

The last 3 items I purchased were NYX products. I bought 2 Jumbo Eye Pencils in Gold and Strawberry Milk, and an eyeliner in White Pearl.

I have never used Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencils before, and I LOVE them. They are very pigmented, and enhance my eyeshadows beautifully, I will definitely be buying more of these in the future, or soon ;) I wasn't exactly impressed with the eyeliner, though. I usually buying my white eyeliner from CVS and I purchase Rimmel's Kohl Eyeliner, and I am much more impressed with that eyeliner.

For a long time now I have been obsessing over sugar skulls and how beautiful and detailed they are. I one will get a tattoo of a sugar skull somewhere on my body, I just love the beauty it possess.

So I just began my Spring semester in community college going full-time, and I can't wait to be done with this already! I am planning on getting my Associates degree (not sure about the major quite yet) and then going to beauty school afterwards. I am just ready to finish this and get to learning more about what I love!

Anyways, this weekend I will be going to Vegas with my family, and I will be stopping by the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas in Primm, Nevada, it's about a half an hour before you get to Vegas, and I will be stopping by The Cosmetic Company Store, and I can't wait to get myself a little haul of makeup to post on here!

I've only really bought 2 products from MAC, Prep and Prime Eye, and the 194 brush. I don't exactly like the Prep and Prime, I find my eyeshadow still creases, and I barely ever use the 194 brush, so hopefully I can find something interesting when I go! I also just purchased some brushes from Sigma Makeup, I purchased the Travel Kit in "Naughty in Black." By next week I think I will do a review on what I think of the brushes thus far. I will post pictures of what I purchased when I return, and maybe a little fashion haul as well!

Viva La Glam

Out today is the new Viva La Glam campaign with Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper. The lipsticks are two gorgeous colors, red and pink. Viva Glam Gaga is a light blue pink, and the Viva Glam Cyndi is a light reddish coral, and both are lustre finishes. They both go for $14 and goes towards the MAC AIDS fund. Personally I am not a fan of light pinks on my lips, I prefer more mauve tones, but I do occasionally enjoy red, so I will most likely buy Viva Glam Cyndi :)

Zooey Deschanel has always been an inspiration to me both with style and music. She is truly one of a kind as she can sing and act. She is in and indie band named She and Him. I adore both her music and style, and she is my inspiration today. :)

Hey everyone! So this is my first blog post, and I am excited to start this thing! First of all I am obsessed with both makeup and fashion, hence my blogger-name, Stilettos and Eyeliner. I am just a baby at 18 years old, but I am learning so much about fashion and makeup and have fallen in love with it! I am currently a student and have a part-time job, so I can't always splurge on makeup brands I covet the most *cough*MAC*cough*Illamasqua*cough* I also love vintage clothes, they are my weakness! I inspire to work in the field of fashion and makeup. In the future with this blog I hope to do lots of reviews, makeup looks, fashion hauls (when I can), and share things that inspire me in the fashion field. Hope you all enjoy!
